In the hustle and bustle of modern life, the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet seeks out silence. Their latest program explores the tension between isolation and connection, between inner peace and confronting emptiness.
The Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet – one of the four finalists in the Dutch Classical Talent program – searches for inner peace and connection in a philosophically tinged program. The saxophonists do this through a fascinating journey through diverse works by Glass, Widmann, Henderickx, and Tafreshi, alternating virtuosity and contemplation.
Island In the hustle and bustle of modern life, we’re constantly preoccupied with external concerns, expectations, and the noise of the world. But within each of us lies an island, a quiet place where time slows down and you can simply be, according to the four musicians. An island that can incite anxiety, but is also a source of connection with everything and everyone.
The Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet was founded in 2019 by Lisa Schreiber, Jen-Hong Wu, Ileana Termini, and Pedro Silva, all four hailing from four different parts of the world. They found common ground in their passion for music during their studies in Amsterdam with Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp. They now represent the Dutch saxophone school with exciting programs.
In this program, the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet presents a new arrangement of “A Shimmering Light”.
