Transforming Persian musical heritage, literature, theatre, and folklore into uniquely personal musical narratives, Ramin Amin Tafreshi (b. 1992) tells stories through music that explore freedom, identity, society, and human experiences. His compositions often highlight marginalized voices while reflecting on cultural and social realities. Winner of the Second Prize and Audience Prize at the Alba Rosa Composition Competition (2018), Ramin’s music has been performed internationally by ensembles including the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest, Maat Saxophone Quartet, and Brackman Trio, in countries such as the Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, and the U.S. Notable works include It’s the Voice That Shall Remain, Soorbâng, and Confessions of the Mulberry Tree, premiered by Gemma New at the Concertgebouw.
