What: Valeria Stewart @ Walter Reed Community Center

When:

Valeria Stewart @ Walter Reed Community Center The Arlington Acoustic Café is a free community music series that faithfully recreates the feel of a 1960s-style coffeehouse, complete with live acoustic performances from local singer‑songwriters and small ensembles . Sponsored by the County’s 55+ Program (via the Walter Reed 55+ Advisory Committee and the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs), the events are open to all ages. Valeria has a solo latin album JUST out (Sept 5th) called Raíces|Roots which was co-produced with Kevin Dudley. Argentine-born Stewart (née Rodriguez-Rozic) embraces her roots with the Porteño accent that permeates the seven-song record. The all-Spanish album, featuring award-winning original songs plus two covers—from Cuba and Argentina, respectively—is close to her heart. Recorded at Bias Studios and co-produced with singer-songwriter and lead guitarist Kevin Dudley. Rooted in Texas but thoroughly integrated into the Washington, D.C. music scene, Kevin is a multi-instrumentalist and heartfelt singer-songwriter. Delivered with a wry sense of humor and a rich, dusty baritone, Kevin sings about death, diners, affairs of the heart, and everything else that touches the human experience. Kevin’s songs are infused with elements of blues and western swing, hinting at influences from Merle Haggard to Robert Johnson. By fan request, Kevin is currently fundraising to record a collection of songs he has written in the last 10 years.
