QuinTango @ Blues Alley

QuinTango, 2 violins, bass, piano, bandoneon and voice, presents an evening of tango like you’ve never imagined: classical chops, jazz harmonies, and intimate stories wrapped in toe-tapping and sensuous rhythms. Tango nuevo by Piazzolla, tango poesia by bandmember Emmanuel Trifilio (inventor of the genre!), and tango fusion by vocalist Ali Cook, all interspersed with authentic Golden Age tangos. If you fancy the Buenos Aires experience right here in DC, you just found it. Visit Website Watch Video

Winner of 5 WAMMIEs and DC’s 2023 award for Best Latin Artist/Group, QuinTango (2 violins, bandoneon, bass, vocals, piano) has received standing ovations at the White House, Kennedy Center, jazz clubs in Costa Rica, Mexico and Buenos Aires and concert venues across 29 states and three continents. Voted Best Latin Artist/Band in DC area in 2023, their concerts include the nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla, reimagined Leonard Cohen and tango poesia, the band’s signature tango style, created by the band’s Argentine composer-in-residence Emmanuel Trifilio and Austin-based singer/songwriter/bassist Ali Cook. In addition to concert halls and jazz clubs, their music can be heard in major films (LA BELLE EPOQUE, France, 2019 and PLAY DIRTY, USA, 2025). Powered by the desire to make a difference, QuinTango partners with schools, community centers, half-way houses, hospitals, senior centers, the U.S. State Department, and local cultural offices to build community globally.
