Karen Briggs is a violinist/composer, born in 1963 in New York. (Manhattan). While growing up in Portsmouth, VA, she took up the violin just before her 12th birthday and was playing solo concerts by age 15. She lived in Los Angeles for most of her life and now resides in Charlotte, NC. She is probably best known for her appearance and fiery solos in the PBS Broadcast of “Yanni: Live At The Acropolis”. Currently recognized as the ’lady in red’, Karen has performed in over 45 countries as a featured soloist. Her style as a contemporary world music artist also features a unique and soulful improvisation. With that, she has collaborated with a number of musicians and artists in both live and recorded performances and from a variety of genres including, Stanley Clarke, Diana Ross, Ledisi, Soul ll Soul, Loose Ends, Orquesta Aragon, Kirk Franklin and Rza of Wu Tang Clan, Naseer Shamma.
