Please join us for an immersive meditative sound journey experience at The Morrow Hotel in Washington DC, as composer and producer Julian Hartwell and master sound healer Kirk Jones present the live performance of their new album ‘Halcyon Listening Room.’ Julian will be playing piano while Kirk plays bronze and crystal singing bowls, Paiste gongs, and molinuka flute. The album features a variety of nature ambiences as well - from birds to ocean waves to tree frogs to rolling thunder - that they field-recorded around the US and Caribbean; providing a grounding and inspiring backdrop - all reminders to pause, listen, and reflect.

The evening begins with a short qigong movement practice, guided relaxation, and grounding warm-up that segues naturally into the sound healing journey. At the end of the program Kirk leads a gentle gong bath, allowing time for integration of the experience as the audience re-awakens to a new world.

Bring a yoga mat, pillow, and/or blanket - whatever you need to be comfortable sitting or lying. There may be chairs, benches, mats, and props available on site.

Halcyon Listening Room is the third full-length album from pianist, composer, and producer Julian Hartwell, featuring an epic collaboration with sound healer Kirk “Evolvlove” Jones. A project almost five years in the making, the album synergistically fuses Hartwell’s piano and production skills with Evolvlove’s vast arsenal of sonic healing tools such as crystal and bronze bowls, gongs, flutes, percussion, tuning forks, and more. Together they have crafted a unique musical experience which might best be described without exaggeration as a “hyper-dimensional sonic immersion,” with the intention to guide the listener through various states of consciousness and ultimately, encourage a meditative healing experience. The album also features various nature ambiences recorded by the artists themselves as well as subtle vocal layering, intentfully placed. Far-and-above the typical traditional meditation or new-age genre that can just as easily become background music, the sound journey of Halcyon Listening Room demands deep listening and active participation, even when producing states of deep relaxation. Kirk and Julian are excited to bring the live experience of this momentous project to audiences all around, starting Spring of 2025 and beyond!
