Dumi Right was first introduced to audiences in hip hop’s golden age as a founder of the groundbreaking group Zimbabwe Legit, widely regarded as one of the first African crews to gain international recognition (All Music Guide). Through all the ensuing years and on to the present day, he has remained heavily involved on the hip hop scene as an active practitioner with a solid discography of album releases, projects and performances domestically and internationally.
His influence has been documented in publications worldwide including academic works like The Hip Hop Wars by Tricia Rose and Say It Loud! The Story of Rap Music by K. Maurice Jones.
He has rocked stages at high profile venues that include The Kennedy Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Smithsonian, Blues Alley and DC’s famed 9:30 Club among many, many others. Recently Dumi was selected as a cultural ambassador to complete a residency in Thailand teaching emceeing as part of the Next Level exchange program.
