Mighty Kin combines the musical talents of four musicians who weave together traditional and contemporary Irish and Canadian east coast music.
In the engine room of Mighty Kin is the Celtic guitar and mandolin stylings of Luke Smilek, along with the rhythms of Dubliner Bodhran player David OâLeary. Together, they set the stage for the tenor banjo & bouzouki melodies of Brian Lawson and award-winning, fiddle-playing, multi-instrumentalist & Ottawa Valley step dancer, Anna Smilek.
Mighty Kin continue to perform in the traditions of Irish song and arrange lively instrumental tunes and vocal ballads. They are equally at home at barn dances, pubs, kitchen parties, and festival stages throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Mighty Kin have delighted crowds at The Fergus Scottish Festival, The KW Multicultural Festival, and the Cambridge Highland Games. The âKinâ also performed at The Registry Theatre for the opening of The Irish Real Life Festival and closed the stage for Conestoga College’s Saint Patrickâs Day celebrations.
Over the past three years, they’ve hosted a Celtic Music Night residency at McCabeâs Waterloo and are now beginning another monthly Celtic Music Night residency at McCabeâs Guelph.
