Join us for a night of sapphic songs and stories. Three of your favorite queer singer-songwriters take the stage at the legendary Free Times Cafe on January 8! Elina Filice and Syd support Maiasha in a cosy night of music, good food and drinks, and community in the Sappho Sessions.
Maiasha is a queer folk singer-songwriter originally from Minneapolis who now calls Toronto home. She is deeply connected to her queerness, drawing inspiration from her own life in her lyrics and infusing haunting imagery into her unique musical blend of folk, pop, and indie rock. She is excited to perform for the first time as a trio with the talented Clay on fiddle and Chris Ma on lead guitar.
Syd (they/them): Syd is a fruity little guy who loves to sing. Big fan of donuts, very handsome.
Elina Filice is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller known for songs that defy genre and interactive live performances. Her music is soulful and melodic while being influenced by blues and spoken word. Now based in Toronto, Elina has entertained audiences across three continents. Elina regards music as a powerful tool for the queer community as a space to share stories of resilience and pride, love and loss, and an opportunity for solidarity and community building.
