KEIKO WALKERは日本とイギリスの血を受け、横浜に生まれる。祖父と伯父は日本で元映画俳優。 カントリー・ミュージック・シーンで十代から歌い始め、1985年にKeiko Walker & The Hot Street Bandを結成し本格的な活動を開始している。 その当初、ボーカル・スタイルや選曲から和製エミルー・ハリスの誉れが高く、若手が不毛だった当時の日本のカントリー界において、はつらつとしたカントリー・ロック・スタイルの歌と演奏でたちまち人気者となった。 レイ・プライス、チャーリー・マッコイ、ジェームズ・バートンなど本場アメリカのミュージシャンとの共演も果たす。
Born February 17, in Yokohama, Japan, Keiko Walker is of Japanese-British descent. She was influenced early in life by her mother’s love of country music and by her uncle, James Walker who was a country music singer and an actor in Japan. Her Grandfather, Hugh Walker was also an actor in Japan. From an early age, Keiko dreamed of being a country music singer herself. In her teens she was discovered by a Japanese country band. Her style has developed over the years to include various influences and sounds from country, rock, bluegrass, and folk to Celtic.
