John Schumann & The Vagabond Crew w. special guest Rebecca Moore

The Corrugated Highway Tour showcasing the live Redgum Years album “Corrugated Highway”

“The night we saw them, the musicianship, unity and heart of the Vagabond Crew supporting Schumann’s showmanship and storytelling made for a magic show. A show where the audience is hanging off every word and you feel like you are part of something special.” (The Pineapple)

Back in March 1983, Redgum recorded one of its most successful albums, live at Rose, Shamrock and Thistle in Rozelle, Sydney. “Caught in the Act” became a benchmark for live albums and highlighted John Schumann as one of the best frontmen in the country.

It’s 2025. Sold-out performances of “The Redgum Years” across Australia have whipped up a fair bit of demand for a live record.

To be recorded over 2 nights in Melbourne in August, John and the boys are setting out on “The Corrugated Highway Tour” in October to feature the live album of the same name.

Updated lyrics reflect our comprehensively mad world and a few new/old Redgum favourites will be added to the set list. There’s superb musicianship and vocal harmonies. And John Schumann, the dry-humoured artist/intellectual with an acerbic tongue, an unerring popular touch and a campfire voice.

“Trump fans won’t like it, nor will the right-wing shock jocks, climate change deniers, Murdoch’s playmates … etc etc.

Too bad.

Alternative

Rebecca Moore is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her music traverses the plains between Led Zeppelin’s Battle of Evermore and Stevie Nicks’ Gold Dust Woman. Rebecca and her band are gaining recognition for their gutsy blues, roots and folk rock sound.

Having recently performed her original music in a contemporary collaboration project with the Steel City Strings Orchestra, Rebecca is set to launch her long-awaited album, ‘The Goddess of War’ this year through Irish record label MCM Global Team. Rebecca’s band currently features ex. Mental As Anything guitarist Mike Caen.

Rebecca has supported many great artists including the John Butler Trio, Xavier Rudd, Christine Anu, Archie Roach, Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus), Jon Stevens (Noiseworks) and the Afro Celt Sound System at the Sydney Opera House. Driven both by her music and a strong social conscience, Rebecca is coordinating a series of concerts to generate funds for Burmese children orphaned by the devastating Cyclone Nargis of 2008. These orphans attend the Phaung Daw Oo Orphanage in Mandalay, which supports over 7000 children and provides one proper meal every day for street kids. In 2010 Rebecca travelled over 11000 km in a caravan in Australia on an extensive solo tour with her PA, guitar, piano, mandolin - and a collection tin for the Burmese orphans. Donations from this tour alone raised over $7,000, and combined with money from the concert series, over $22,000 in total has been collected for these lost children of Burma.

Rebecca also toured the UK in 2010, was a finalist in the 2010 Toyota Star Maker Competition and placed 4th in the Folk Category of the ASA Songwriting Competition. She was a finalist in the 2009 Melbourne Songwriter’s Competition, nominated Best Female Vocalist in and Top 5 Blues act in the 2008 ABC Newcastle Music Awards, and was awarded an APRA Professional Development Award in the Rock category. She is a performer and writer of distinct individuality and an inspiring creative presence.

Rebecca’s forthcoming album features songs that highlight the beauty of ancient folk music combined with rock instrumentation and the blues. Her new album was recorded with Grammy-nominated Afro Celt Sound System producer/engineer/writer Martin Russell, who describes Rebecca as “Australia’s best-kept secret”. “The artistic love child of folk singer Joni Mitchell and stadium rocker Robert Plant.”
