Who: Greg Poppleton

Greg Poppleton is Australia’s only authentic 1920s-30s singer – 1.3 million total YouTube views and 9 albums.

He’s been hooked on 1920s – 1930s jazz and swing since watching Louis Armstrong on TV when he was three years old.

Greg Poppleton’s movie debut was in a scene with Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge! (2001) and used in the trailer. He has since been in one-on-one movie scenes with Adrien Brody and John Goodman.

On TV he has appeared in the series Mother & Son Season 2 (ABC), Barons (ABC), The Last Days of the Space Age (Disney +), Year Of (Stan), Caper Crew, and many more.

On stage, Greg has played Joe Keller, the lead in Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’, the Greek philosopher, Soptoros, and John Stark (Scott Joplin’s manager) in a one-man show with ragtime orchestra. He leads a 1920s-30s swing band and orchestra as Australia’s only authentic 1920s-30s singer. He is an award-winning national jazz broadcaster with over 40 years on-air.

He grew up in Sydney, Australia, the fourth of five children to Bert, a bus driver, and Aileen (Stapleton), a shop worker. He is of English and Irish ancestry.

Poppleton has an honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma in Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney.

He is married with two sons.
