Following the Bootleg Melancholy Tour, DIESEL is set to head out around the country once again with his inimitable voice, a pallet of guitars and a double bass for DIESEL, BY REQUEST.
A show where the audience plays an integral role in reaching every corner of Diesel’s 3+ decade catalogue of songs, forming the set list for the night - they decide on the song choices making for a night of music ‘requested’ by the audience.
How it works…
From a list of songs posted prior through Diesel’s socials, the audience make their song selections and provide a short comment. On the night, Diesel will then formulate his set list based on these requests, making each night a bespoke experience for both audience and performer.
Song choices to select from span from the first album Johnny Diesel & The Injectors (1989) all the way through to Bootleg Melancholy (2023) along with some eclectic cover picks from the artists that have shaped Diesel’s career.

With a career spanning over 3 decades, 17 albums, 100+ million streams, 6 ARIA awards and 2,000+ live shows, Diesel knows how to “bring it” to a room, and BY REQUEST is the ultimate opportunity for him to celebrate with his audience, the hours, minutes and miles that have made an enduring artist, and the soundtrack to so many of our lives.
Born in Fall River Massachusetts, the youngest of 7 children from a sax playing electronics technician father and a mother in nursing, Mark Lizotte aka DIESEL grew up in Australia and in the U.S. He formed the band ‘Johnny Diesel & The Injectors’ in 1986 from remnants of a previous band before embarking on a solo career in 1991.
In 2017 Diesel celebrated 30 years “off the bus” landing in Sydney in 1987 after a 3-day bus journey across Australia, launching into 9 shows per week - the rest is history. With over thirty five singles, sixteen albums, 6 ARIA awards and record sales edging 1 million, DIESEL is a journeyman of music.
With blues music in his DNA, an influence largely from his Father’s record collection, DIESEL has blended styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.
