“One of the best and most active in contemporary Norwegian jazz.” – Espen Løkeland-Stai, Dagsavisen (22.02.24)
Liv Andrea Hauge Trio is a Norwegian piano trio featuring Liv Andrea Hauge on piano, Georgia Wartel Collins on double bass, and August Glännestrand on drums. Since their formation in 2022, the trio has performed at jazz festivals and clubs across Europe and Japan, developing a sound that balances clear, lyrical composition with improvisation and space. Their second album, Ville Blomster, was released on the Norwegian label Hubro in 2024. While their debut was recorded in a living room during the trio’s first week together, Ville Blomster captures the group in a studio setting for the first time. The album combines simple, melodic piano figures, abstract bass improvisations, and subtle rhythmic textures, offering music that is at once reflective, playful, and emotionally grounded. The trio’s approach is often described as inviting emotional connection while leaving room for the unexpected, marked by strong interplay and a willingness to explore both silence and intensity. There is a sense of openness in the music – an attention to air and space – where structure and freedom exist side by side. Some pieces unfold slowly and quietly, while others move with energy and spontaneity. The group’s ability to shift between these modes has become a hallmark of their sound. In 2024, the group received the European Jazz Network’s Zenith Award, which highlights emerging European artists working in creative jazz and improvised music. Their next studio album is scheduled for release on Hubro in autumn 2025.
