Les J – A Messenger Born from Fire
Les J (formally Seize Da Movement), born Stan Lester Jr., shouldn’t be here. At least not according to what odds, or even death itself once decided. In 2001, he was out of his mind, body, and his soul was headed for hell. Naturally here but spiritually gone. His heart overwhelmed by a drug-laced joint, when his soul slipped into the dark beyond. But death did not win. God wasn’t finished with him yet.
“I was gone,” Les J recalls. “I left my body. I felt the fire, it was pure torment. My flesh melted like wax, peeled back from my bones, only to grow again, and burn again. Over and over. I cried out, until God answered.”
That brush with hell changed everything. In the stillness after the storm, Les J heard a calling, a divine commission to live differently, to speak boldly, to minister purpose into a broken world. He chose to obey.
Reborn not just in spirit but in mission, Les J stepped into gospel ministry through music. In 2005, he released his first album He Changed Me (Seize Da Movement), a raw, heartfelt testimony that sparked momentum across the West Coast. Over the next three years, three more albums followed, each a stepping stone in a journey of redemption, faith, and fierce authenticity.
After a five-year break from music, Les J returned with renewed vision, reuniting with longtime friend and musical brother Samuel “Ciryl” O’Banner. Together, they crafted Survivor (Seize Da Movement) a powerful, truth-laced project that’s not just music but ministry. Every verse, every hook, every beat bleeds with the urgency of a man who’s been to the edge and lived to warn others.
Taking another break from music, Les J is poised to make a bold return with his highly anticipated new single, God Did It, a powerful anthem that signals not only a musical evolution but a deeper spiritual awakening. Collaborating with Grammy Award-winning producer Jovan Dawkins, Les delivers a track that blends timeless west coast flare with street gospel excellence. Les J is more than an artist—he’s a husband, a father, a walking miracle. He shares his life with his beloved wife Alicia, and their three daughters, Trinity, Spiritual, and Grace, his angels on Earth. When he’s not writing or performing, you might find him shooting hoops, lifting weights, or lining up shots on a pool table, each moment a celebration of life he almost lost.
