Who: Easy Crier

Psychedelic Folk Rock

Easy Crier is a psychedelic improv art rock quartet featuring original compositions and lyrics by guitarist Thomas Wing.

The song writing features jazz chords, from simple structures to more rich technical structures woven with singer songwriter lyrics that are inspired by the human spirit. The band takes these songs as structural compositions and allows them to evolve in dynamic improvisational rock through an interplay with the vibe of the room. The improvisation is unplanned, exciting and new every time.

About Thomas:

Truth is often stranger than fiction. During a trip to Southern California in the midst of the pandemic, Thomas experienced a paranormal phenomenon while driving through Joshua Tree. His car suddenly lost all power in the middle of the night.

As Thomas opened the hood to inspect the engine, a bright, inexplicable light appeared in the sky. In the next moment, he was electrocuted. According to Thomas, he died and remained dead for what he claims were several earth days.

During this time, aliens surrounded his lifeless body, employing automated, hospital-like machinery to perform brain surgery. Immobilized on a bed, Thomas lay awake as one of the aliens, referred to only as “Stardust,” comforted him. Stardust explained that they were correcting a part of his brain responsible for receiving creative thoughts and functioning like a beacon.

Thomas regained consciousness after a Joshua Tree park ranger performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. In what he describes as a deep afterlife state, he dreamt of being kissed in a fairytale-like moment—hence the “Make Out.”

Upon returning to life, Thomas had no recollection of his previous ego or identity, which he refers to as the “Blackout period.” However, he began receiving messages from the alien culture with instructions for songwriting. Although he had no prior knowledge of guitar and was entirely self-taught, Thomas found himself able to compose complex chord progressions reminiscent of the styles of John Lennon, Brian Wilson, and Burt Bacharach.
