“Alex Walsh makes music the old fashioned way–warm and witty and straight from the heart.” — Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle
“Tenacity is a virtue, and so is imagination. Singer-songwriter Alex Walsh has both qualities in spades.” — Rachel Swan, East Bay Express
Storied singer-songwriter Alex Walsh has been a musical mainstay in the Bay Area for over 3 decades, both as a solo artist and a band member. Going to gigs during San Francisco’s Summer Of Love and immersing himself in the sounds of the south during a stint in Mississippi before he’d even finished high school, a career in music felt like a natural progression. Finally, after a year as a regular attendee of the SF open mic circuit, Alex decided to take the plunge and pursue his passion full-time, and the rest was history.
Synthesizing influences from The Beatles and Bob Dylan to Velvet Underground and R.E.M. into a unique blend of folk rock and indie pop, Alex has captivated millions through over 10 records and 20 singles to date — collaborating with Grammy-winning engineers, getting signed to music libraries, and attracting the attention of publishers and curators along the way. Equally as electric on the live front, Alex has graced the stage at local institutions and sung truth to power at 20,000 person protests on the steps of the Capitol, inspiring audience participation with his tenacious yet warm and witty delivery wherever he is.
With momentum at an all-time high, Alex is keeping his nose firmly to the grindstone, working with mixing maestro Matt Boudreau of Working Class Audio podcast fame on his next EP while preparing for his upcoming gigs on the California coast — an exciting time indeed for his growing and diverse global fanbase.
