Who: Donatella montinaro
Jazz
Donatella Montinaro is an Italian singer and songwriter, born and raised in Bari (Apulia region). Her music wants to convey different genres and musical experiences, but at the same time finds her home in jazz music, welcomed and therefore conceived as the creative art par excellence. Her debut album “Uliveto” is produced by the well-known bassist Joe Sanders and is a real presentation for the apulian singer, who refers directly to her family’s olive grove. A nostalgic image that reconnects her with her childhood and first memories of life, as well as to all the women in her maternal side, who have handed down this land for 200 years.
Her CV is already impressive at this point, including a master degree from the prestigious “Siena Jazz” where she had the opportunity to study with the biggest names in the current jazz scene and beyond (to name a few: Greg Hutchinson, Joe Sanders, Yonathan Avishai, Logan Richardson, Diana Torto, Dena DeRose, David Linx etc…). In February 2022 she wins the first prize in the singers category of the prestigious Italian Competition “Chicco Bettinardi”. She appears, also, in the “Top Jazz 2023”, a historic ranking stipulated by the magazine “Musica Jazz”, among the “New Talents – Italy”.
