Kosmos na Potolke is a band formed in Moscow in 2018. Since 2023, the group has been based in Tokyo, Japan. Genre: Indie rock, dream pop, shoegaze. Lyrics: A reflective look at one’s emotions in everyday situations. Their third album remains true to their dreamy style while being the band’s most upbeat release so far. Detached vocal delivery paired with emotional instrumentation is a hallmark of their sound. The arrangements on this year’s album reflect influences from Wet Leg, Blur, and Alvvays — it’s guitar-driven indie rock with elements of dream pop. As is traditional for the band, the lyrics contain imagery from the vocalist’s childhood in Siberia — like icy sculptures and sleeping houses — while also capturing moments of joy from the present. The new songs explore themes of self-discovery, life transitions, and nostalgia for the past.
