When:

Adrian Iaies @ Pavillon d'Artois Adrián Iaies is currently unveiling his latest project, “Sur (as an answer to all ques0ons),” marking a significant milestone as the 30th album in his extensive career. This release is par=cularly noteworthy as it is the first to be issued on vinyl and the first recorded in his own studio, featuring his personal piano. The album brings together a repertoire of classic tangos from renowned composers such as Anibal Troilo, Juan Carlos Cobián, and Francisco de Caro, reinterpreted through Iaies’ unique lens as a jazz musician, all conveyed in the in=mate seEng of solo piano. For Iaies, playing tangos has been a passionate pursuit since his early works. His deep apprecia=on for these exquisite melodies allows him to narrate his life story in a personal manner, without compromising his iden=ty as a jazz pianist. His rela=onship with the tango repertoire mirrors the natural connec=on that celebrated jazz ar=sts and Adrian idols like Bill Evans, Tommy Flanagan, and Hank Jones have with American popular music. Throughout his prolific career, which includes around thirty albums and performances in both trio and duo formats, Iaies has also explored his own composi=ons and the standard jazz repertoire. However, his bond with tango has remained steadfast, as evidenced by his earlier albums, such as “Nostalgias y otros vicios” and the acclaimed “Las Tardecitas de Minton’s” the laIer earning him his first of four Grammy nomina=ons. With this new album, Iaies con=nues to bridge the worlds of jazz and tango, offering a fresh and in=mate listening experience that is sure to resonate with audiences and music promoters alike. His ar=stry not only showcases his technical prowess but also his ability to evoke deep emo=onal connec=ons through music. This project presents a unique opportunity for promoters and the music business to engage with a dis=nguished ar=st at the forefront of contemporary jazz and tango.
