Who: The Flamingos Pink
Rock
Formed in 2018 in Montréal, Canada, The Flamingos Pink is an explosive two-piece rock duo consisting of Sacha Gubany - the undeniable voice and distorted guitars – teamed up with Julien Corrado – the off-the-wall drummer like a bat out of hell. Their partnership traces back much earlier: the two attended the same schools 7 years apart and reconnected around 2013, bonding over music during a high-school hall-monitor gig—an unconventional origin story that plays directly into the duo’s chemistry.
More than just driving rhythms and power chords, their sound channels classic rock’s grit and garage punk’s immediacy, drawing comparisons to The Stooges, early 2000s garage-rock revival acts like The Hives, The White Stripes and The Black Keys, and seeped in raw swagger reminiscent of Iggy Pop and The Stooges. They take creative cues from Green Day demos and Kurt Cobain’s iconic introduction of The Meat Puppets during Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged.
