Who: Rod Coote

Alt Folk

Rod Coote is an Australian singer-songwriter who creates warm modern indie anthemic folk songs blending acoustic instrumentation with sincere storytelling & songwriting, reminiscent of his contemporaries Noah Kahan, Ben Howard & Hollow Coves. These songs have led him to support acts The Dreggs, Winterbourne, Morgan Evans, Mark Wilkinson & Kyle Lionhart

Based in Melbourne, Rod experienced a tranquil childhood growing up nestled in his small Australian countryside hometown. From building a grassroots community of listeners from busking by the coastline, he has gone on to play his own headline shows across Australia & Europe.

His latest EP ‘Where Rivers Meet The Sea’ was inspired by his sea change experience moving from the countryside to coastline. Produced by Garrett Kato ( Ziggy Alberts, Riley Pearce), Hein Cooper (Lawson Hull) & Jackson Barclay (Hollow Coves, Woodlock), this EP met a warm embrace in Australia receiving radio airplay on Triple J & gaining support overseas from music communities AlexRainbird, 7 Layers, Mahogany, Indie Folk Central & APEIRON.

2024 will see Rod releasing a new EP produced by Garrett Kato & Hayden Calnin with his own headline shows across Australia & Europe playing on ‘Surfana Festival’ line up in September.
