With a rich pallet of sound, Aykay brings fresh energy to listeners with his catchy beats and rhythmic rhymes. His unique style of hip-hop delivers real emotion, transparent in his personal expression. Feeling like an underdog all his life, Aykay takes a bleak view and channels it through his spirituality. He directs that energy back into his work, creating uplifting tunes to raise spirits. Easy-going and upbeat, relaxed melodies ease you in, while Aykay’s voice casually carries you away.
Rising above the struggles of life in a poor, broken household, Aykay found music in his hometown of Livingston, Texas. Growing up in a town of about 5,000 people, he started creating music as a young teenager. Collaborating with other local Texas artists, Aykay became one of the original members of the rap collective MGB, which included the members’ Ammo and Scuba. After a studio robbery, however, the group was discouraged. Fed up with financial setbacks, Aykay joined the Marines in 2015 to gain stability in his path. When his time was served, and honorable discharge received, Aykay got right back to making music. In 2018, he relocated to Los Angeles, enrolled in classes at the LA Film School, and began taking the initial steps to pursue his music career at the professional level.
Since then, Aykay has continued to grow as an artist. Distributed by Sony, his most recent releases, “Who Diss?” and “Hit The Cup,” earned over 500k views in the first couple of weeks after the initial drop.
Aykay writes songs from the difficult ups and downs of life. He has overcome many obstacles on his journey and his songs are pulled from a personal space. His lyrical content and the message he is trying to send are what sets him apart from other artists. Blunt and honest, Aykay uses his music as a way to relate to others. He recognizes every challenge as an opportunity for improvement, so Aykay is constantly growing, learning, improving, and perfecting. Between trolls on the internet, doubters back home, and completion on the music scene, Aykay uses all the hate as positive motivation. It gives him tunnel vision to push himself harder, manifesting dreams into reality.
