A Study in Red is a spectacularly unique Melbourne-based female-led rock band that promises a bloody good time. With influences from a wide range of genres including pop, punk, metalcore, and more; every song pushes the boundaries of what defines it.
The band’s gore-dropping appearance lends itself to a story unfolding; of media-mixing horror and mystery that might just make you question why roses bloom blood red. Decked out in their finest, the band puts on a viscerally good show from start to finish and their gimmick provides a long term plan for their trajectory.
Their first single, “Clockwork Heart”, debuted in 2023 and was shortly followed by “Mr. Popularity”. The pair are tributes to the feel good pop punk that made the 2010s, marking the band’s focus on delivering entertainment in both nostalgic and fresh ways.
Their upcoming EP, “Pyrite Crown”, has more metal and rock influences, aligning with a more pop-rock and metalcore blend. Even with heavier themes of exploitation, religion, and flaws that depart from the upbeat nature of their first singles, their songs remain just as catchy and listenable.
