Originally from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, Barby moved to London in 2019. Since then he’s established himself a central figure in the London music scene bringing his unique brand of cello playing to a range of projects supporting artists such as King Krule, Black Country New Road and Katy J Pearson.
His first EP ‘Plastic Values’ was released in April 2024 and picked up in full by BBC 6 Music. Whilst his debut single ‘Mice in Jeans’ was selected as a BBC Introducing ‘Track of the Year’ 2024 by Emily Pilbeam.
