What: John Reilly @ The Library Venue

When:

John Reilly @ The Library Venue This is going to be a really fun afternoon !! John Reilly and Lewis Nitikman will be playing a few tunes, but the main event is to celebrate the launch of the long awaited autobiography, ‘Crackerjack to Vegas’ by the legend that is BERNIE CLIFTON !! Plus a bit of Yorkshire Tapas to kick it all off !! What took him so long? Growing up in wartime St.Helens (where a bomb missed his head by a few yards), Bernie began his career as a teenage singer with a local dance band. This was the first step on the long and winding road that took him to a Royal Variety Show where he reduced our late Queen to tears of laughter and then, after many years of touring, to a standing ovation in Las Vegas. Bernie takes us along on his hilarious journey, explaining how he failed as a plumber but made it to Beijing as a trombonist. We read about his exploits piloting his ‘Flying Ostrich’ microlight (without a licence) and keeping fit with the odd London marathon… on the back of an ostrich! “Bernie is so funny he should come with a health warning” Su Pollard “Buckle-up readers; you’re in for a treat!” Jimmy Cricket “He is, in one word, a ‘genius’” Joe Pasquale There will be signed copies available to buy on the day and each purchase comes with a FREE CRACKERJACK PEN !! Only 80 tickets and already selling fast so book yours NOW !! For enquiries and alternative ticket sales, call or text Elaine 07918 556552

Who: John Reilly

Rock
John Reilly is a Liverpool born singer, songwriter, lyricist and writer, now based in Sheffield, England. John has three older sisters and grew up in a house filled with an eclectic mix of music from Sinatra and Nat King Cole, Dylan and Joni Mitchell, to Motown and 70’s glam and he was particularly influenced by the lyrics of Bernie Taupin. His first band at sixteen while still at school was ‘Force’ who played at the legendary ‘Eric’s’ in Liverpool, playing mainly Roxy and Bowie covers. Two years later John moved to Sheffield and together with Bass player Andy Needham he hand-picked musicians to form BOY ON A DOLPHIN. Pete Hiley on lead guitar, Tom Bryson on drums. After a year, Darren Ford became drummer. Reilly, Needham, Hiley, Ford are still the core of Dolphin today. 2007 John flies to Toronto to write with Canadian pianist/writer Lewis Nitikman. An incredible flurry of creativity ensues and Lewis flies to the UK to continue. John tests out the new songs in shows with him on guitar, percussion and vocal and Lewis on piano. People return again and again and begin to sing songs that they have only heard live. In 2016, John appeared on BBC1 ‘The Nation Remembers’ show, performing his song ‘Women of Steel’, live from the Imperial War Museum in London. A John Reilly concert is almost a spiritual event. An evening where every emotion is touched and unleashed in a uniquely intimate atmosphere created by his intensely profound lyrics and stunning vocals.
