The award-winning trio Dreamers’ Circus returns as curators of Folkets Festival, as VEGA once again sets the stage on Saturday, January 17, 2026, for a full day celebrating Nordic folk music in all its forms. Rooted in living traditions and with eyes set on the future, the festival offers a rich and captivating program of concerts, jam sessions, dancing, and workshops.
Folkets Festival 2026 shines a spotlight on new generations and boundary-pushing collaborations, presenting some of the most visionary voices from the Nordic folk music scene.
VEGA – formerly known as “Folkets Hus” (The People’s House) – was built as a gathering place for the people, and with Folkets Festival, the house returns to its roots. For decades, VEGA has been synonymous with popular music, but on this day, folk music takes center stage – as a vital and contemporary art form with something to say.
The festival is an antidote to outdated notions of what folk music is. It celebrates craftsmanship, aesthetics, and community, and reveals a scene in motion – where old roots are growing new shoots.
The ambitiously inventive Nordic trio, Dreamers’ Circus, are one of the most talked about acts in the acoustic realm right now. They mine their solid backgrounds in traditional and roots music to present a genre-bending amalgam of folk sensitivity, jazz-tinged improvisation and classical complexity distilled through an openness to popular music influences. Dreamers’ Circus display virtuosic and incendiary musical ability across a range of instruments that includes fiddle, accordion, piano and cittern and with a resolutely contemporary approach they have taken the new Nordic music scene by storm.
