Formed in Brooklyn in 2019, wakelee is made up of identical twins Alex and David Bulmer, along with longtime friend Elliot Shiang. The three met at a party and instantly bonded over Halal food and a shared love of music.
Six years, one LP, and a handful of emo-tinged singles later, wakelee has continued to evolve their sound—rooted in raw emotion and shaped by years of collaboration and growth. Their self-released EP Doghouse (February 2025) marked a confident step forward, earning praise from peers across the emo and indie scenes for its more refined, accessible sound.
The latest project has led to opening slots with rising emo-indie acts like Worry Club, Arm’s Length, and Oakwood. Now, wakelee is putting the finishing touches on their second full-length record.
