Lifford Shillingford, acclaimed UK soul and jazz vocalist, is widely celebrated for his emotive delivery, stunning vocal control and dynamic stage presence. Rising to prominence as the voice behind Artful Dodger’s hit Please Don’t Turn Me On, Lifford has since established himself as a singular live performer, appearing on stages such as Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Café and the Royal Albert Hall.
For Soho Jazz Festival 2025, he is joined by festival co-founder and pianist Nathan Britton, a versatile musician and producer whose elegant touch and improvisational flair have seen him collaborate across the UK jazz scene. Together they bring a set rich with soulful nuance, expressive dialogue and modern swing, performed in the intimate surroundings of Piano Bar Soho’s Red Room Studios. Rooted in gospel, soul and classic jazz traditions yet unafraid to stretch beyond, Lifford’s sound is timeless, heartfelt and deeply resonant, making this opening night performance a rare and captivating experience.
