Who: Geo Aghinea

Avant-garde

London-based experimental producer, composer, and vocalist, Geo Aghinea (b. 2001) emerges with a sound that bridges their Romanian roots with microtonal textures and the post-communist pulse of Eastern Europe’s underground queer scene.

Through modular synth explorations, they design immersive experiences where electronic sonics meet haunting, siren-like vocals. Growing up with the chants & Doinas* of their grandmother, Geo developed a hauntingly distinct vocal style that is at the forefront of their hybrid productions.

Geo also brings a unique perspective to sound itself. As a musician with severe hearing loss, their reliance on hearing aids isn’t a limitation but a tool: reshaping their understanding of frequency, space, and texture. This heightened awareness has influenced both their production choices and vocal delivery, adding a tactile, almost physical quality to their sound.

Geo’s genre-defying work is an extension of their identity, fluid and transformative. This is evident in their debut left-field EP, I’ll Hand You A Hand (2023), and with Gynodioecious (2025) coming soon, Geo is set to push sonic experimentation even further.

Geo is recognised as an Oram Award winner (2023) for innovation in sound, music and related technologies and Roundhouse selected resident artist 2024-25. In April 2025, Geo performed with Tom Odell on the main stage at Roundhouse.
