Cambridge’s Best Boy Band.
When its members first came together in a sweaty practice room on a hot summer’s afternoon in 2022, they had no idea that they would emerge two hours later as Cambridge’s Best Boy Band. Perhaps more impressive than simply earning that title is the fact that BANGKITAN has sustained it in the years since the band’s inception.
BANGKITAN have generated more than a meager reputation in the East Anglian rock scene. Their shows have been described as a kinetic powerhouse, a shot of adrenaline that refuses to decay until the final chord has been thrust upon their audience. Owl Rose’s distinct vocal style evokes a distorted, false memory of emo heroes had they been subject to the battery of post-hardcore and metalcore in the 2010s. In conversation with Ryan Arnold’s hardcore-influenced riffs and the incessantly driven rhythm section composed of Fridge Stoll and Robbie Hunter, the combination is lethally potent.
Fresh from the studio, working alongside the unfathomably talented scene veteran Tom Joy as producer, BANGKITAN are back with four all-new singles which demonstrate a band not only maturing, but unafraid to experiment. They might not be Take That, but they’re something so much more: relentless.
