What: Manchester Camerata @ Aviva Studios

When:

Manchester Camerata @ Aviva Studios

We’re proud to be part of the UK premiere of this bold new work, featuring a live soundtrack from Space Afrika – followed by a reading from Dante’s Inferno and a collaborative set with us, where we’ll perform new, unreleased music together.

Part music video, part arthouse film, Opera Omnia is a new film soundtracked by Space Afrika and directed by Valentin Noujaïm.

It tells the story of two Black teenagers, who are navigating a strange and dark night in Manchester, guided by Space Afrika’s haunting soundscapes. As the boys are pulled into an urban odyssey, the film becomes a surreal, Lynchian exploration of the city’s underground.

Space Afrika are producers, contemporary composers, visual artists, performers and NTS Radio hosts, known for their genre-defying sound. In 2024, the duo, comprised of Josh Inyang and Joshua Tarelle Reid, created an immersive audio-visual installation at Aviva Studios as part of the 54: Collective.

Valentin Noujaïm is a French-Lebanese artist and filmmaker whose practice revolves primarily around the moving image, its potentialities and limitations.

After our sell-out collaboration with Space Afrika back in 2022 – and no strangers to Factory International – we’re excited to work with this incredible duo again for this boundary-pushing event.

Join us and Space Afrika in the Hall for an evening of genre-defying music and art, rooted right here in Manchester.

Who: Manchester Camerata

Orchestral

Manchester Camerata is a registered charity working and performing in Manchester and worldwide since 1972.

Be it opening Glastonbury festival in front of 40,000 people or working intimately in care homes with people living with dementia, we believe in the transformative and connecting nature of music. That connection drives us, and we work with the best creative talent to make this happen.

With our live performances, we play music with no boundaries. From an orchestral rave performed in isolation to over one million people during the Covid-19 pandemic, to touring Mozart in the most beautifully intimate concert halls, or re-imagining classical music with electronic producers at the top of their game, we believe great music is great music and we present this to you at the highest level.

To achieve our artistic excellence and forward-thinking ethos, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Led by our visionary Music Director, Gábor Takács-Nagy, we collaborate with diverse international artists, from New Order to Martha Argerich to Aziz Ibrahim to Lewis Capaldi.
