Expect to be blown away by the intricate harmonies, funky rhythms and powerful solos from Ardú’s six singers.

Who: Ardú

Folk

Ardú is an award-winning ensemble and a pioneer of contemporary vocal music in Ireland. They have a busy touring schedule and have so far represented Ireland at international festivals in London, Edinburgh, Finland, Croatia, Austria, Italy and Slovenia, often supported by Culture Ireland. Ardú also regularly perform at high profile Irish festivals, such as Boyle Arts Festival (2023), City of Derry International Choir Festival (2020), MusicTown Festival (2020), K Fest (2019) and the Cork International Choral Festival (2018). The group has featured on TV and radio including the Ray D’Arcy Show, the BBC Proms, Marty in the Morning and Sing: Ultimate A Cappella on Sky One, and in 2019 they supported American a cappella group Straight No Chaser at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Ardú have released three studio albums to date: ‘Gravity’ (2018), ‘LIVE’ (2020) and ‘Songs from Here’ (2022). The most recent one has been nominated for a CARA (Contemporary Acappella Recording Award) and selected as runner-up in the category of ‘Best European Album’, while their music video for their single ‘I Wouldn’t Be’ was nominated for an AVA (Acappella Video Award) as ‘Best Video by a Professional Group’. Back in 2019 their single ‘Homeward Bound’ was also nominated for ‘Best Classical/Folk Song’, and they have won a number of awards, including first prize in the 2018 Choirs for Christmas competition on RTÉ Lyric FM, as well as the audience award at the 2019 Vokal.Total festival in Austria.

As ambassadors of the contemporary a cappella genre in Ireland, in 2017 Ardú founded the Irish International A Cappella Festival.
