To view the development of one’s own art as an open-ended process, unfolding beyond the logic of commercial exploitation – that has always been Marc Grünhäuser’s modus operandi.
Last year, the singer-songwriter and composer introduced “TAGIOG” (2024), the debut single of his new project Quicche, marking the beginning of a new creative chapter. Released on the legendary label R&S Records – home to some of the most groundbreaking electronic acts of the ’90s, from The Future Sound of London and Aphex Twin to Ken Ishii – Grünhäuser reconnects with past strengths on this track.
Musically, however, his work now draws less from indie rock and more from the technically sophisticated productions of artists like James Blake or Burial. Gentle breakbeats, atmospheric ambient textures, and ethereal vocals come together on this year’s debut album Frisia (2025), conjuring a sound that feels both dreamy and futuristic – a fitting reflection of our turbulent times.
It’s the birth of a new, unconventional sound for the versatile producer – one he’ll be presenting live with us for the first time this year.
