Who: KAZEA

Post-rock

KAZEA is a heavy, genre-defying trio that forges dark and visceral anthems, melding the power of post-rock, the haunting melodies of neofolk, and the crushing weight of sludge, carving their own path in the metal landscape. Emerging from the shadowy recesses of the human psyche, each note resonates with an undertone of social commentary, interwoven with threads of self-reflection and musings on the human condition. The music is carried forward by the whispers of ancient spirits and primordial ancestors, in a sacred manner but without a belief in any power other than the ancestral spirit itself.

The band is comprised of former Orochen members Jonas Mattsson and Rasmus Lindblom, who joined forces with drummer Daniel Olsson (Hellsongs) during the summer of 2023, marking the inception of KAZEA. Their debut album, I. Ancestral, is a cathartic exploration of heritage, pain and redemption, brought to life in June 2024 with the sonic alchemy of Ulf Blomberg of HoboRec (Recording & Mixing) and Magnus Lindberg from Cult Of Luna (Mastering). The album is graced by guest vocalists Gina Wiklund (Black Birch, GASP) and Oskar Tornborg (Wormwood, Circular Ruin), adding layers of depth and emotion to the soundscape. Drawing inspiration from bands like Wovenhand, Cult Of Luna, This Will Destroy You, Emma Ruth Rundle and Neurosis, KAZEA’s live performances are an emotionally raw and stripped-down experience, where each song is delivered with a fierce and primordial passion. Their debutalbum is a mesmerizing record with a unique blend of post-rock, neofolk and sludge influences, scheduled to be released March 21 via underground record label Suicide Records.

“8/10 “ (Metal Temple) “Emotive and powerful debut single from new band KAZEA’s upcoming album, I. Ancestral” (Destroyexist) “This Swedish trio achieves an impressive fusion of stoner, doom metal and sludge” (Expansion radial) “…colossal aura of power” (Roadie metal)
