Storyteller - Katie Proven Violinist - Seonaid Aitken
Step inside The Bookmonger for an intimate (faux) candlelit evening ahead of International Women’s Day, where powerful storytelling and live music come together to honour women’s voices, wisdom, and lived experience.
In the soft glow of candlelight, guests will be welcomed into a reflective and uplifting atmosphere designed to celebrate authenticity, courage, and purpose.
Guests will be greeted with a welcome glass of Crémant Blanc de Blancs (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a signature Bookmonger cheeseboard to share, featuring a curated selection of artisan cheeses and accompaniments from our cheese bar. Additional wine, beer, and soft drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.
At 7:30 p.m., the lights will dim and the storytelling will begin. Katie Proven, a Glasgow-based storyteller, will share myths and stories for midlife and beyond, tales of women who move beyond fairy tales and expectations, choosing authenticity, courage, and self-determined purpose.
Forget golden-haired princesses and neatly wrapped endings. These are stories of women who claim their voices, embrace transformation, and redefine what power looks like as life unfolds.
Katie will be joined by Seonaid Aitken, an award-winning violinist, vocalist, and BBC broadcaster from Fife. Known for her soulful performances and artistry inspired by jazz legend Stéphane Grappelli, Seonaid’s violin will weave through each story, creating an immersive musical landscape that deepens the emotional resonance of the evening.
Together, Katie and Seonaid create a one-of-a-kind performance, intimate, moving, and quietly powerful, celebrating women’s stories through word and melody.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. This event is for adults only (18+). Seating is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; we will do our best to seat you with your party.
