What: Lucie Hendry @ Peebles Old Parish Church

When:

Lucie Hendry @ Peebles Old Parish Church

Scottish harpist Lucie Hendry returns to the stage this September with her trio, sharing music from her upcoming second album, Ashes to Art.

Blending the Scottish folk tradition with the vibrant Nordic contemporary scene, Lucie’s innovative, nature-inspired music reflects her life between Scotland and Denmark.

She is joined by Scottish guitarist Chris Amer and Danish drummer Christoffer Skovhus. Together, they bring Lucie’s original compositions to life with intricate melodies, rich rhythmic textures, and a cross-cultural spirit that honours tradition and embraces curiosity.

Following the success of her debut solo album Land of Eden — released in June 2023, receiving national airplay in both the UK and Denmark — Lucie and her trio have performed at major festivals including Celtic Connections, Stonehaven Folk Festival, Godtfolk, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and Aarhus Jazz Festival.

A rising voice in contemporary folk, Lucie was a finalist in BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2021 and a nominee for ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ at the 2023 Scots Trad Music Awards. With Ashes to Art, she continues to chart a bold, expressive path for the lever harp in modern folk music.

Who: Lucie Hendry

Contemporary Folk
Lucie Hendry is a lever harpist from north-east Scotland, currently working between Denmark and the UK. Lucie fell in love with Scottish folk music at an early age, and this gave her work a strong foundation from which it continues to evolve. In recent years, Lucie has been exploring the boundaries of her instrument, weaving other musical influences and styles into her work, and exploring different constellations of instruments. During this time, she has built her reputation in the folk scene, touring throughout the UK as well as mainland Europe.
