Fair Weather Son (Mark Ellis) is a UK Singer Songwriter who has been writing and performing in several bands for over 20 years. Mark first found fame as drummer of the drummer of Hamfatter, a band infamous for their appearance on Dragons Den, later Mark would form Elma who’s 60’s inspired debut album drew high critical acclaim and would lead to the band signing a deal with BMG Music. After Elma split Mark decided to carry on as a solo artist and so Fair Weather Son was born!
The Fair Weather Son journey began during the lockdown years with his first, release the self titled EP. Lead single This Thing Is Better achieved a tonne of local radio play and the video directed by award winning director Jonnie Howard received more than 14,000 views on Youtube. Since then the last three Fair Weather Son singles have all achieved national radio play and high critical acclaim from the likes of BBC Scotland and Amazing Radio. With more music in the pipeline including a new EP in 2025 Fair Weather Son is one to watch!
During his time as a solo artist Mark has written and performed with likes of The Subways, Grant Nicholas (Feeder), Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine.
