Emerging from Glasgow’s vibrant music scene, alternative sextet Diving Horse are making waves with their blend of intellectual lyrics and infectious post-punk rhythms. Formed in 2022, this group of musicians have honed their abilities in a host of other acclaimed Scottish acts and now fuse their technical ability with raw energy to craft a sound that is equally cerebral and danceable.
With influences that range from The National’s artful indie rock to LCD Soundystem’s propulsive beats, Diving Horse produce music that stimulates the mind and moves the feet. Songs such as ‘You and I the Universe’ demonstrate the band’s talent for pairing poetic lyrics with pop sensibilities. Combined with driving synths and soaring vocals the band make music that speaks to the soul while compelling listeners to dance.
Diving Horse released three singles in 2022, and have focused on building their fanbase in their hometown of Glasgow by playing celebrated venues such as Stereo and Broadcast. They closed the year by performing at the latter’s Hogmanay party. In 2024 the band announced the release of ‘I Don’t Need the Lord’ and have a further single set for release later in the year. They were featured in Scotland on Sunday’s ‘Under the Radar’ column and have received support from Jim Gellatly. They continue to perform and are live throughout 2024
