Who: Alasdair Dow

Soul
Alasdair Dow is a singer-songwriter who moved to Edinburgh three years ago. He now hosts a Sunday session at the Royal Oak whilst playing his original music elsewhere both solo and with his trio. He performed with his band at Kelburn Festival in July ‘24. Alasdair’s arrangement of the traditional song, ‘Hares on the Mountain, included on his first independently produced album, was described as ‘exquisitely done’ by DJ Mark Radcliffe who played it on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show. Aside from folk, Alasdair’s music also touches on rock, blues, soul, jazz and classic pop.
