Who: Miranda Faul

Alternative

Irish singer-songwriter Miranda Faul is a rising star whose music defies easy classification. In 2024 alone, her music has been featured on notable platforms including BBC Introducing, Hot Press Magazine, The Greene Room with Jenny Greene on RTE 2FM, and All Irish with Claire Beck on Today FM. With a captivating fusion of folk, pop, R&B, and soul, Faul’s sound is as eclectic as it is enchanting. Her distinctive voice, paired with unconventional melodies and introspective lyrics, creates a listening experience that is both compelling and cathartic. Her songs resonate with a poignant authenticity, offering both darkly reflective and uplifting moments.

Growing up in musical households in Sligo and Kildare, Miranda was immersed in music from a young age; she learned to play the acoustic guitar as soon as she could hold one. Influenced by a rich tapestry of artists including Adele, Dido, Jorja Smith, and Lisa Hannigan, she started writing songs at 19. She started performing solo at Dublin’s open mics in 2022. Since then, her project has grown to a full-band ensemble, bringing her dynamic performances to esteemed venues such as Whelan’s, The Sound House, The Grand Social, Sin E, Fibber Magees, and The Crowbar Terrace in Dublin, as well as The Macbeth and Dingwalls in London, in 2024 alone, culminating in a headline show in Whelan’s, Dublin on November 12th 2024.

2024 has also seen Miranda release four compelling singles: the dark folk-pop ballad “24,” the R&B-infused “Not Much Of A Man,” the electrifying pop anthem “Delicate,” which earned acclaim as Hot Press Magazine’s Track Of The Day, and the dreamy “You Would Have Let Me Down”, which debuted as a World Exclusive on BBC Across The Line & on The Greene Room with Jenny Greene on RTE 2FM ahead of its October 11th release. As Miranda puts it, “if I write a sad folk song that I love one day, and an upbeat R&B diss-track the next, they both belong in my discography. I don’t want to stay in one genre; I want to have fun with my music and experiment.”

Her debut EP “Rise & Run” is set for release in January 2025.
