Born in Calcutta, Hulo grew up surrounded by folk and rock, sounds that subtly shaped his musical language and worldview. What began as a seven-year-old’s fascination with a guitar gifted by his grandmother evolved into a lifelong pursuit of translating emotion into melody.
Hulo’s music is raw, intimate, and deeply reflective, tracing the quiet moments that define identity, love, and loss. Blending introspective songwriting with the textures of modern pop, his sound carries the warmth of memory and the honesty of lived experience.
His debut album Griefcase is out now, a poignant collection of songs exploring love and grief through shimmering guitars, unguarded lyrics, and carefully crafted arrangements. The record reflects his influences while firmly establishing a sound that feels unmistakably his own.
Now emerging as one of the defining voices of Indian independent music, Hulo has performed extensively across India and Europe. He has shared stages with artists such as Prateek Kuhad and The Yellow Diary, and has played at landmark spaces including House of Music Berlin, The G5A Foundation, Casa Bacardi Tour, Skinny Mo’s Jazz Club, and antiSOCIAL.
Hulo is all set to embark on his debut India tour, Excess Baggage — a six-city journey that extends the emotional landscape of Griefcase onto the live stage. The tour promises intimate performances, immersive storytelling, and a deeper connection with audiences across the country, marking a significant new chapter in his evolving musical journey.
Aditya Majumdar or as his grandma calls him, “Hulo” was born in the year 2004 in Calcutta, India.
Okay now I am switching to the first person, because it is indeed me writing this. I grew up on folk and rock courtesy my parents and that became my whole personality. But then as a musical 7 year old, I needed to get more into it - I wanted to be like Jon Bon Jovi so I begged my grandma for a guitar and then that became my whole personality. Through it all, the one thing I always constantly aspired to do was to tell stories - and that is how I started writing songs.
My album, “Griefcase” releases in the spring of 2025 and there are many singles headed your way before:)
