The Blue Line is an indie pop duo based in Dallas, Texas. It consists of brothers Michael and John, who share more than a familial bond: a deep life-long passion for music. Each sibling brings something unique to the table. Michael serves as the frontman and vocalist, also handling the production of the pair’s music. On the other end, John shreds on guitar in the studio and during acoustic performances. He has been playing guitar since he was only a kid and he’s able to bring so much depth and consistency to his performances both live and in the studio. Despite their differing musical tastes, the two brothers combine their creativity to craft a unique and distinctive sound.
The duo’s name, “The Blue Line,” is a nod to the DART rail line in Dallas, a place that holds childhood memories for both members. Their sound draws inspiration from a mix of artists, including Post Malone, The Strokes, and Milky Chance, placing them within the genre of indie pop and pop-rap.
The Blue Line’s music stands out for its ability to create organic, raw sounds infused with a deeply personal twist. The duo has been steadily active in the Dallas TX live music scene, performing at well-known local venues such as the Brass Tap franchise and the Opening Bell Coffee, a well-known spot within the underground scene. On August 22, 2024, they released their latest single, “ik u care,” along with a professionally produced music video. The song, which delves into the emotions of leaving someone and missing them while realizing they are better off apart, is outstanding for its heartfelt lyrics and emotional depth overall.
