Dana Fuchs has a raw and energetic voice of the same caliber as Janis Joplin’s. Musically, she places herself in a natural extension of the great soul and blues tradition, to which she adds an incomparable power and attitude taken from rock music.
She can be as emotional and vulnerable on stage as she can be powerful. The lyrics are personal and her stage presence is intense. Prepare to be moved and carried away by a vocal that shines crystal clear in the soundscape when she takes the stage at BRØK tonight with her trio, which also includes Kevin Mackall and Jon Diamond.
Dana Fuchs is from New York but has roots in Florida, where she sang gospel in the local church choir. She has worked her way up to be a shining talent in New York’s rock and blues clubs.
In addition to her great musical talent, Dana Fuchs has an acting career, including playing Sadie in the Julie Taymor film “Across the Universe”. She was also written to play the singing Janis Joplin in Randall Myler’s musical “Love, Janis”, where she filled the role to perfection with her amazing voice.
