Midwest Aswang Mini-Fest is a celebration of Filipino joy and resistance. The vibe is alt, DIY, weird-o, political, freak Filipinos - we’re trying to create a space for kababayan that don’t always feel welcome in our more traditional community spaces.
This year, the proceeds of this fundraiser will go directly to Tanggol Migrante Chicago and the multiple Filipino families they are currently supporting in their work to defend Filipino migrant rights and welfare. For more information on the work that Tanggol Migrante Chicago does, click here.
🎟️ TICKETS: $25–$35 SLIDING SCALE The base ticket price is $25. If you’re able to reach into your pockets a little bit more, we’re asking for $5 or $10 in extra donations (or more!). All ticket levels get the same full access to:
Live DJ sets throughout the day in the outdoor Garden
Live punk bands from 4PM to 8PM in the indoor Sanctuary
Performance artists between sets
Local food & art vendors
Community organizations
Artwork and installations by Chicago Filipinx artists
A festival raffle (rad prizes from baked delights to portrait sessions!) run by Malaya Chicago Northside
👶 Kids under 12 are FREE! Bring the whole fam. This is an ALL-AGES event!
While this is an all-ages event — meaning that all ages are welcome in the space — to be clear, some performances and art pieces may be considered mature.
While we consider nothing in the show inappropriate, we do speak on heavy topics. This festival is an effort to create a space unafraid to fight for all parts of our community. We’re working with community organizations that are explicitly anti-fascist. We’re raising funds for folks fighting deportations. Work that deals with migration, sexuality, racism, harassment and supremacy in all forms from any of our artists is not censored.
If you’re wondering if you should bring your kids to the show - if you would allow them to read a newspaper today, the show will be alright.
💥 Whether you’re moshing or just vibing — your ticket as well as any additional donations on top help us pay performers, support local vendors, raise as much as we can for our communities, and keep this fest DIY + accessible.
