About Black Brunswicker:
Black Brunswicker is the solo project of Etta Helfrich. Originally from Indiana, USA, Etta moved to Manchester in 2020 and has been based there since. Self-described as ambient folk melancholia, Black Brunswicker is a synthesis of Etta’s musical interests: American primitive and new age guitar, ambient drones and tape-based experimentation, and ecological field recordings.
Drifting guitar melodies, awash in a sea of reverb, are anchored by the soft movements of tape loops and field recordings, creating an immersive listening experience. It’s music with no place to be, encouraging introspection.
About rhubiqs and Bretwalda:
Tom Squires, aka rhubiqs, is a London-based composer and sound designer. He produces beautiful electronic soundscapes, rich in texture and ambience. To quote an interview in Sun 13 Music:
“On Aegis of Silence… Squires produces his best so far. Finding new ground to cover, the results here are something completely dynamic. The more you listen to each of these nine tracks, the more you realise just how removed they are from one another, each possessing their own language.
Bretwalda creates Medieval soundscapes and dark age dub: Pre-industrial music for post-industrial people. This isn’t dungeon synth - no heroes, no dragons, and absolutely no bards! Think music for dying in a hovel from bubonic plague at the ripe old age of 32.

rhubiqs is the solo project of London-based composer and sound designer Tom Squires.
Squires’ music creates a world where Actress meets Kranky, with a side dose of Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works for good measure.
These are far-reaching electronic and ambient sounds that provide immersive soundscapes for listeners to lose themselves in amidst thought-provoking textures, samples and field recordings.
2024 saw Squires return with his latest LP ‘Aegis of Silence’ released via Affin ahead of further releases with the same label planned for 2025.
“a series of compositions that are rich, alluring and ethereal in equal measure” - Sun-13.com, on Aegis of Silence.
Squires also plays in Transatlantic Alliance, a post-rock group previously signed to Post. Recordings, as well as being a contributing member of The Post-Everything Collective.
