Who: Dryadic

Folk

Bristol & Gloucestershire based rising alt-folk trio Dryadic deliver a tight, infectious blend of rootsy folk with a melodic pop flair on strings and keys, peppered with heart soaring vocals and vibrant fiddle lick. Their latest single is the wistful, heart stopping, ‘Rainbow Family’—a heartfelt and empowering anthem celebrating chosen families, queer community, and the resilience of misfits. The song was added straight away to the BBC Introducing West and Orbit playlist, and has been garnering rave reviews. Their next offering, ‘Good To Be Alive’ is out on May 23rd.

Dryadic’s distinctive sound and connected live show command the audience with tenacious singalong hooks, delivered straight from the gut, backed up by epic layered harmonies, raw energy, emotion and stage presence. Feel-good, rousing rhythms underpin candid, hilarious, lyrics reflecting Dryadic’s passions, beliefs and politics. Expect stomping feminist protest songs and travelling folk tales to dreamy, epic ballads with five-string fiddle with double bass often do-si-do-ing in with the audience!

Dryadic have captivated audiences at venues and festivals across the UK, from Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage to Brighton Pride to Hackney Empire and Stroud’s Subscription Rooms. With performances alongside folk luminaries like Grace Petrie, O’Hooley & Tidow and Heather Peace, Dryadic’s presence is both magnetic and purposeful, engaging listeners through both the music and the inclusive atmosphere created.

Current Dryadic members are leader and song-writer Zora McDonald on guitar, stomp and piano. Aly Rainey on fiddle and George Pearson on double bass.

Previous members and collabs include Cula S Walkers, Alfie Weedon (Cousteau, AK Patterson, Cynefin), anarcho-folk-punk Cosmo, Brighton legend Paul Diello , Jake Skinner (Keltrix, Nigel Kennedy, Ellie Ford), and epic original fiddler Joanna “Owl Hands” Dziecelska.
