What: Like Mint @ Kulturhaus Insel Berlin
When:
Like Mint’s latest EP, “On Second Thought,” lives up to its name: it’s a closer look at the life themes that accompany Like Mint. The final letting go of childhood beliefs, the fragility of love, the nightly ruminations. The magnifying glass is also meant to be a mirror for the listener: Where do you see yourself reflected?
Like Mint has once again collaborated with Australian singer-songwriter Lucas Laufen. She handled the pre-production herself, and the final touches were added together in the studio. The arrangement is reminiscent of her previous records—vocals and guitar as guiding lights, with the production providing a harmonious framework. Some elements are new, however—for example, the synth sounds of the Juno or the violin played on Like Mint’s childhood violin.
Like Mint Susi Wittig, aka Like Mint, a Berlin resident originally from the Ore Mountains, joins a new generation of artists like Lucy Rose, Phoebe Bridgers, and Billie Marten with her subtle authenticity, while simultaneously standing on the shoulders of indie legends such as Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, and José González. Her music creates intimate spaces: quiet, approachable, and touching.
For her EP release show, Like Mint presents an exclusive lineup: Together with Lotta St. Joan and Juliane Graf (Nichtseattle), she will create a folky, intimate trio evening that invites listening, reflection, and empathy.
