Cassette heads are a music collective based in Berlin, merging the worlds of jazz, soul, hiphop, r&b and beyond - producing the city’s most music-forward events & parties, hosting a famous weekly jam, and still finding time to release an album or two in between. Since throwing their first jam session back in 2020, CHS have cultivated a community around the love of listening, playing and sharing music, inviting artists from all over the world, every week of the year.. All year round! With previous festival takeovers all over Europe (Melt, Meadows In The Mountains), collab shows in Senegal, and the playing with the likes of Rc and The Gritz (Erkyah badu’s band) & Allysha joy (first world records), Cassette Heads push the boundaries with the spaces and locations that they fill with sound – from secret house parties to an empty airport field, have you been to a Cassette Head Party?
Navigating between singing and rapping over layered hip-hop beats, queer filipinx Kimmortal’s artistry is defined by its subversive energy and grounded vulnerability. Their third album Shoebox (2023) chronicles their journey through healing intergenerational trauma, celebrating the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and embracing their inner child.
Kimmortal’s music has extended beyond the studio, with notable sync placements, including “This Dyke” in The L Word: Generation Q and “On My Way” in Apex Legends Season 19. Their original song for Sort Of (currently streaming on HBO and CBC) won Best Original Song at the Canadian Screen Awards, and their music video for “Blue and Orange” was awarded Best Music Video at the Disorient Asian American Film Festival. Known for their powerful stage presence and multi-dimensional approach to music, Kimmortal has opened for some of their favourite artists including Thundercat, Saul Williams, Shad K, Ruby Ibarra, Saba, and Gabriel Teodros. They have performed in SXSW, Junofest, Rifflandia, NXNE, Winnipeg Pride Festival, Taking Black Pride (Seattle), and Reeperbahn (Germany). This spring and summer they look forward to performing shows across the USA and Canada, and releasing new music throughout the year, including a single with rapper Shad.
