His musical journey began at age eight in his church choir, but it was winning a music competition in elementary school that inspired him to pursue a professional career. His interest in music deepened after being inspired by a local musician who taught him guitar basics during his daily water-fetching errands. Kabumbayi Joh released his debut album Nos Âmes in 2010, which opened doors to numerous events and festivals. At these performances he appeared alongside renowned African artists such as Akon, Lokua Kanza, Ismael Lô, Zahara, Oliver Mtukudzi and Oumou Sangare. Kabumbayi Joh has since released the albums Le Monde (2020) and Sous le Soleil (2022)
He will perform on the guitar & vocals together with Felicitas Arnold on the violin.

Kabumbayi, known professionally as Kabumbayi Joh, is a Congolese singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist. His music is a fusion of jazz and soukous music, originally from the Congo. At the age of 8, Joh started singing in the church choir, but he couldn’t imagine taking up music as a profession until he won a music competition at his elementary school. Winning this competition encouraged him to start a career in music and record his first album “Nos âmes”.
This provided the crucial encouragement to pursue music professionally. This breakthrough led him to a milestone that captured the raw emotion and unique blend of influences that come to define his sound and his musical identity.
